In addition to supporting LOFAR's Key Science Programs, LOFAR IT acquires an additional 33 hours of observation per semester (per cycle) which can be used to directly sponsor particularly proposals deserving submissions in response to the various Calls for Proposals.
Once the list of proposals has been obtained, and the LOFAR Technical Panel has screened them regarding their technical feasibility, a commission, appointed for this purpose, will suggest the distribution of the 33 hours.
